From about the middle of the nineteenth century, Dutch cartography entered a new phase, when the government began to map the country on a large scale. This resulted in detailed multi-page map series, with maps of first 1:50.000 and later 1:25.000. In general, the bibliographical access to these map series leaves a lot to be desired and the Card Series Database Geoplaza tries to improve this. The map series database currently contains the river maps and the water management maps. The databases contain contributions from Rijkswaterstaat and Utrecht University. Finally, the Topographic Military Map, as in the possession of the Maps and Atlases Collection of the University Library, accessible in a web viewer.
