ArcGIS applications

Esri makes available in ArcGIS Online in more than 30 applications to simplify processes with spatial data. Applications are always available as ready-to-use, replaceable and fully programmable. We have listed a number of applications – which are always under development:

ArcGIS Online StoryMaps allows users to tell a story or investigation step-by-step in a scrollable webpage† You can easily add texts, interactive maps, photos, videos and audio to a StoryMap. ArcGIS StoryMaps are intuitive and can make results and ideas visually appealing and accessible. Publish and share your story with everyone or only with VU employees and students. The StoryMap including linked map layers are stored on the VU ArcGIS Online environment† From there, these can be added to the VU Project Portfolio of this website.

ArcGIS WebApps zijn interactieve webpagina’s, maar zijn op zichzelf static (non-scrollable)† There can be several tabs being added. A WebApp consists of a large interactive map, with a narrow scrollable text, photo and/or video area next to it. further can over 50 widgets (overview photo/overview text) add extra functionalities, such as a time slider, ruler, or share button. The WebApp including linked map layers are stored on the VU ArcGIS Online environment† From there, these can be added to the VU Project Portfolio of this website.

ArcGIS Online gives users access to the Arcgis Living Atlas† This is an extensive collection of geographic data from around the world. Data compiled by Esri and many other approved organizations. It contains maps, apps, and data layers to support your own data. Arcgis Living Atlas contains data from snapshots, but also live data about, for example, the weather or traffic. Use the ArcGIS Living Atlas for a specific purpose or to get inspired!

Note: It is possible to select from ArcGIS Pro directly load content from the Living Atlas (video 2).

ArcGIS Field Maps is an all-in-one app for field workers who both online and offline works. Locations can easily be marked and edited in the field. When used online, these adjustments are directly visible on the linked ArcGIS Online environment. When used offline, the adjustments are uploaded as soon as FieldMaps connects to the internet. Furthermore, FieldMaps offers the possibility to: real time locations to be shared between, for example, the student and the supervisor. Of course it is also possible to download the FieldMaps app on mobile or Ipad (UBVU has approx. 30 iPads for field work).

ArcGIS Survey123 Makes it possible to location-related questionnaires to prepare, complete and analyze. Share your questionnaires with specific groups within the VU or with everyone. A link or QR code makes sharing easy. Download the Survey123 app on your mobile device to offline questionnaire to be completed† Finally, Survey123 offers the possibility to quickly analyze results by means of summary reports† The results are saved on the VU ArcGIS Online environment† You can find Survey123 in the ArcGIS Online environment by clicking on the nine dots at the top right.
