The VU Amsterdam Map Collection contains over 50.000 maps. The collection gives a broad cover of 19th and 20th century topographic and geologic mapping, but also includes older rare maps. A selection of approximately 5.000 maps, based age and particularity, was digitalized. The high-resolution scans in TIFF are freely available on our webviewer. Very soon, these maps will be ‘georeferenced’ with the help of the crowd, implementing a next and crucial step in the disclosure of the maps.
More information on the project will follow the comming week(s).
